COOL BANDS (DOING COOL THINGS).
Just wanted to send some love out to our fellow bands who are doing some neat stuff.
First off, Topanga just released their latest 7 inch (you can stream it on their site but I’m pretty sure you can get it for free somewhere as well) BUT they’ve also been doing this “Record Club” thing where each member of the band chooses a record for the rest of the band to listen to, and they put up their little explanation on their Tumblr along with a stream of said album. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, Peter and I like to give whatever readers we have an insight into what we’re into and it’s cool to see another band’s tastes as well.
Next, Alright Alright have been doing a little thing called the “Cellar Singles”. It seems to be similar to our Singles Club without the email and I think they did it first. But they also throw up a video (made with stock footage, I can only assume) to go along with it. I saw these guys at the El Mocambo last month and they were pretty great, so if you dig the videos go check them out.
Lastly, Julianna Riolino. Peter was listening to this earlier today and it caught my ears. Yet another great talent coming from Welland to go along with the likes of Northern Primitive, Marine Dreams, Hunters & Anglers and many more (the common thread here may or may not be Ross Miller)..
