FEAR FUN.
Father John Misty (J. Tillman, ex-Fleet Foxes drummer) is about to release his new solo album and I’m pretty excited for it, based on this song alone:
Awesome song/video that gets stuck in my head almost daily. He’s at the Horseshoe on May 14th.

EAST COAST TOUR VID PART DEUX.
Here it is in all it’s short, potentially unfunny glory:

Levon Helm
Apparently Levon doesn’t have too much time left so I’d like to share my favorite Levon sung song with you. Myself, Christian and Patrick got to see Levon play last summer and although the cancer had made it difficult for him to sing anymore he was still banging away on the drums. He’s the second most influential person on the way I try and write melodies/how I sing. He will be...
Feist.
You’re probably sick of mine and Jeff’s ongoing diatribe about how unbelievable Feist is, but I think you should watch this video anyways. She’ll get my Juno/Pitchfork award any day.
If we ever get the opportunity to play a big festival I hope it can be as impressive as this.
Leonard Cohen
Christian and I covered Leonard Cohen for a Herohill compilation last month and forgot that it came out last week. We chose the Partisan and you can download the whole comp for free here -

NEW (OLD) TUNES.
Just updated my Soundcloud with two new (old) songs. The first one, Pick It Up, was written almost a year ago as I was trying to recover from tendinitis and I finally finished it around the start of March. Crazy Cam is on the drums for this one:
The second one was already posted on the blog back in September, but I figured I’d give it a more permanent home on the Soundcloud.

I'm Sorry.
Perhaps we shouldn’t have a camera after all.
LIGHTNING BOLT.
We’ve been light on our blog posts lately and I apologize for that, we’ll get back into it (for the few people that actually read the blog). I know I’m a little late on this new Joel Plaskett Emergency record but Lightning Bolt has to be one of the best songs I’ve heard in years. It’s an incredibly intriguing rock song that’s long (but doesn’t feel long)...
Part 1 from our East Coast Tour.
We had a really great time, and I put together a short video highlighting some of those good times. If you don’t like the video you can do as Poor Young Things say and ‘Blame It On The Good Times’.
Sincerely,
Peter ‘bad pun’ van Helvoort
